Caravan Site Review: Somers Wood, near Coventry

Arrival

From the moment we arrived (a little ahead of schedule), we were greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome—it felt like meeting an old friend. The instructions to our pitch and the rundown of the site facilities were super clear, making it all so easy to settle in. It’s those little moments that set the tone for an amazing stay.

Location

II’ll be honest, I had my doubts at first. With all the motorways and roads nearby, I was a bit worried it might get noisy. But you know what? It wasn’t an issue at all! Somers Wood turned out to be such a peaceful little escape—a hidden oasis right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle.

Sure, we could hear the jets taking off from the nearby airport now and then, but it didn’t really bother us. It was easy to tune out and just enjoy the calm vibes of the place.

Oh, and if you’re exploring the area, you’ve got to visit Meriden—the centre of the UK! It’s such a handy spot with a small parade of shops. We found a fish and chip shop, a pharmacy, a café, and even a sandwich bar. Perfect for grabbing a quick bite or stocking up on anything you need.

If you’re into golf, you’re in for a treat! This spot is right next to a golf course, with another just a short drive down the road. It’s the perfect place to tee off and soak in the scenery.

Pitch

We went for a fully serviced hardstanding pitch right in the heart of the site, just a short stroll from the shower block and facilities. Surrounded by tall trees, it felt like we could’ve been anywhere in the country—so peaceful and tucked away!

One thing to keep in mind: the electric hook-up for our pitch was on a central post shared with three other pitches, so it was a bit further from our caravan than expected. When I mentioned this to the friendly folks at reception, they immediately put me at ease.

They said if our cable wasn’t long enough, no problem—they’d lend us an extension during our stay. No hassle, no fuss—just brilliant service. Have you ever had a campsite go above and beyond like that? Let us know!

Facilities

The shower block and washing-up room here was absolutely spotless—seriously, you couldn’t fault it. You might think being in the middle of the woods would make this tricky, but nope, it was pristine!

Lisa even said it was her favourite shower and WC setup of all the sites we’ve stayed at so far (and trust me, we’ve stayed at a lot!).

What about you? Have you ever found a campsite with facilities that really stood out? Let us know—we love swapping recommendations!

Nearby

During our visit, we had such a great time exploring the area! Along with checking out the local golf facilities and Meriden, we also took a trip to Warwick University—it’s definitely worth a visit.

Coombe Abbey Country Hotel and Park was another highlight, and both were just a short drive away. Oh, and Coventry is super close too, so there’s plenty to see and do nearby.

Site Summary

We had such a great time at Somers Wood, one of the lovely Tranquil Parks! The weather was perfect during our stay, so we made the most of it by sitting outside and soaking up the sunshine. A real gem tucked away in the heart of the country—just the kind of place you can’t wait to visit again.
